How do I connect my personal device to the printers at RDP?

Answer

You can print directly from your personal device to the printers in the Library by downloading and installing the appropriate software.

Printing from a Windows device

  1. Ensure you are connected to the eduroam network.
  2. Navigate to Papercut’s mobility print device set-up page.
  3. Under ‘Which device do you want to print from?”, select ‘Windows’.
  4. Under the video, click the link to download and run the Mobility Print installer.
  5. Follow the instructions in the installer.
  6. FollowMeQueue should now be added to your list of available printers

Printing from a MacOS device

  1. Ensure you are connected to the eduroam network.
  2. Open your System Preferences (the gear icon on your menu bar), and select Printers & Scanners.
  3. Click the ‘+’ icon on the left-hand side to add a new printer.
  4. Select FollowMeQueue from the list of available printers.
  5. Ensure that Use at the bottom of the dialog box is set to Secure Airprint, then click Add.
  6. When prompted to log in, enter your RDP email address and password.
  7. FollowMeQueue should now be added to your list of available printers.

Printing from an iOS device (AirPrint)

  1. Ensure you are connected to the eduroam network. 
  2. Tap the app’s Share icon (a box with an arrow coming from the top) and select the ‘Print’ option.
  3. Tap ‘Printer’ and select followmequeue.
  4. Adjust print settings as needed (page range, colour printing, paper size, etc.), and tap ‘Print’.
  5. When prompted, log in with your RDP email address and password.

Note: Your device will remember your login credentials for 5 minutes. After this, you will be prompted to log in again.


Printing from an Android device

  1. Ensure you are connected to the eduroam network. 
  2. Install the Mobility Print app from the Google Play Store.
  3. Open the app and select Android Settings > Mobility Print.
  4. Tap the enable toggle.
  5. Exit settings.
  6. When printing, select followmequeue as the printer.
  7. Adjust print settings as needed (page range, colour printing, paper size, etc.), and tap ‘Print’.
  8. When printing for the first time, you will be prompted to log in with your RDP email address and password.

Note: If you select Remember Me, your phone will remember your login details for the printer for 30 days. If not, you may be asked periodically to verify your credentials.


Printing from a Chromebook

  1. Ensure you are connected to the eduroam network.
  2. Add the Mobility Print Chrome extension.
  3. When printing your document, select FollowMeQueue as the printer, adjust other settings as needed, and click Print.
  4. When prompted to log in, enter your RDP email address and password.
