How do I link Google Scholar to the RDP Library collection?

Answer

Configure Google Scholar to show RDP Library Links

  1. Go to Google Scholar and click the three horizontal bars in the top left corner.
  2. From the menu, choose the cog icon to see Settings.
  3. From the Settings menu, choose Library links.
  4. Search for Red Deer Polytechnic and select it by checking the appropriate box. You can select up to five libraries.
  5. Click Save.
Now when you search in Google Scholar, you’ll see the "Request this item @ RDP" link next to items in your search results which are licensed or owned by RDP Library.

Get Google Scholar Items from RDP Library

  • Click on the "Request this item @ RDP" link.
  • Click on a "Find Full Text" link in the next screen to access the article through the library's subscriptions.

Google Scholar includes books and book chapters as well as articles. Links won't appear for books, chapters, or journal articles that are available only in print.

If off-campus, using the "Find Full Text" link will activate a login screen. Login using your iCard barcode and NEOS PIN to access the full-text article.

NOTE: Clicking on the article title will also take you directly to the article, but you won't be able to access it without logging in. The 'Request this Item @ RDP' link is the preferred method to get access.
