How do I print course materials from Blackboard?
Answer
Since Blackboard is web-based, printing is handled through whichever web browser you're using. Sometimes you can right-click the area that you want to print and look for a message similar to "Print This Frame." Most browsers have a Help option that can explain more about printing.
If the course content is in the form of an attached document, such as a PDF, PowerPoint, or Word document, then you can open the document and print it using the appropriate software.
PDFs
PDF documents may open within Blackboard or in a separate window. To print a PDF from Blackboard, use the print icon on the PDF (not the web browser's print icon).
You may need to download and open the PDF before you can print it.
PowerPoint
Instructors may have added class slides to Blackboard in one of two ways:
- As a PowerPoint file which opens within Blackboard or within a new window. In this case, right-click and save the document from its link in Blackboard. Then, open the document and use the PowerPoint menu to print.
- As a PDF version of the PowerPoint. Download the PDF, open it, and print using the PDF menu or icon.
Class Notes
Instructors may have added class notes to Blackboard in one of two ways:
- As a Word document which opens within Blackboard or within a new window. In this case, right-click and save the document from its link in Blackboard. Then, open the document and use the Word menu to print.
- As PDF version of a Word document. Download the PDF, open it, and print using the PDF menu or icon.
TIP: If you are having trouble printing content, try copying the content and pasting it into a Word document, then printing the Word document.
