Which Education courses use Google Classroom?
Most Education courses use Google Classroom instead of Blackboard and Google Meet instead of Blackboard Collaborate.
The following courses use Google Classroom:
- EDUC 1302 - Introduction to Education Technology
- EDUC 1305 - Child Development
- EDUC 1500 - The Teaching Profession
- Middle Years Courses (U of A Collaborative Degree) e.g., EDES 362 - English Language Arts
How do Education students access Google Classroom?
Education students, including all Middle Years students, are issued a Google Account to access Google Classroom. Login information is provided on the first day of classes by the course instructor:
firstname.lastname@rdpolyedu.ca or
lastname.firstname@rdpolyedu.ca
How do Education students join their Google Classroom session?
Students should be logged into Google Classroom with their @rdpolyedu.ca account.
In most courses, student will see a join link for Google Meet sessions on the main page of the Google Classroom (under the “Stream” within the top banner):
If no link is present, the instructor has likely shared the link with their students in a different way (e.g., through email or Google Calendar).
What should Education students do if they are unable to join their Google Classroom session?
Students should be logged into their @rdpolyedu.ca account within Google Classroom.
Students should try to login to Google Meet 10 minutes before class begins to provide time to contact the instructor if something is not working. If they are unable to join, they should contact their course instructor.
Who can they contact for immediate assistance if their instructor is unavailable to respond?
If their instructor is unavailable, they can contact the Google Administrator (Brad McDiarmid).
