How do I navigate my Blackboard course?

Base Navigation

Navigate your Blackboard course using the links on the left-hand side, called Base Navigation. Depending on the way your Instructor set up your course, some or all of these links may be included:

Institution Page

The RDP landing page is displayed when you log into Blackboard. It includes announcements and links to helpful Red Deer Polytechnic services.

Profile

Click on your name to personalize your notification settings.  

Activity Stream

View at a glance which activities require your immediate attention with this curated list of what’s new and what’s coming up.

Courses

Quickly navigate to your courses with the ability to search and filter. View your courses in list or card format.

Click the star icon of each course to mark it as a favourite; these courses will then appear near the top of your course list for easy access.

Blackboard Course

Calendar

View all course, organization, institution and personal events and due dates in one place, plus gain two-way synchronization with external calendars.

Messages

Stay connected by viewing and sending your messages from one place.

Grades

Quickly check grades across all your courses at a glance

Sign Out

Logout of Blackboard using the Sign Out link at the bottom of the navigation.

Tip
Your instructor may have customized your Blackboard course menu and/or course tools. Each course will be unique, but the base navigation will be the same.
